Cocktails, snacks n' pizza: Nell's opens at Kampus!

The best news is always worth the wait. And so we’re very happy to announce that Nell’s, the home of the famous (infamous?!) 22″ pies and slices, opens at Kampus on Friday 5 November. Head to the new Nell’s for a pizza line-up including best-sellers Original Cheese, Do You ‘Roni Honey? and Vegan Deluxe, or try the standalone Slice Bar for a quick slice day or night.

Nell’s is a family-run business, brought to the Kampus community by husband-and-wife team, Jonny and Charlotte Heyes. (Cute fact: the Nell’s name comes from the initials of their kids.) There are already two Nell’s, but the Kampus one is a little bit special. Alongside all that pizza, for example, are new focaccia-style snacks. There are also three signature cocktails on the menu – just for us – Nell’s Sbagliato, Nell’s Spritz and Nell’s Sour. And, every weekend, the Sunday Pizza Social brings it with bottomless slices, bottomless drinks and DJs.

There’s a stellar beer and wine list, too. Choose from house beers (Veltins, Virtuous, Pomona Island), specials from visiting breweries, and local favourites, or from a wine list (made up entirely of wines you just want to drink, in large glasses, all night). Which works for us.

Our Nell’s looks the part, too. The Snug (for parties and private hires) has a parquet floor taken from the Bank of England and, up above, a Mondrian-inspired ceiling. Elsewhere, check the ‘protest’ banners by Manchester artist Tara Collette – exalting the joys of pizza – and tiles inspired by Stretford Mall’s 70s exterior.

Jonny and Charlotte have been part of the Kampus community from the beginning, but their original idea for a pub – called Cornerstone – has been upgraded with Nell’s New York Pizza & Bar. The couple have spent the last 18 months turning Nell’s into one of the runaway successes of Manchester’s food scene and, said Jonny, “now felt like the right time for Nell’s to step out of the shadows and have a place of her own.” We couldn’t agree more. Now, form an orderly queue, please.
